Sandipan Deb's Last War takes you back to the story of Mahabharata where the brothers are fighting to be heir to the throne. Its way back to 1955 in Bombay when and old Parsi Businessman Rustom Pestonjee chances upon Yash Kuru because he has no heir to his business empire. He builds a unique trust and relation with Yash. On his death bed he announces that Yash would be the heir to his empire and would later transfer it to his nephews' sons. He also said that there would be a war at that time between the brothers for the empire. Same as what happened in Mahabharata.

In Mahabharata we saw that they used bows and arrows but in Last War the use of AK47 and other arms are used. All the characters are re-created by Deb in this modern Mahabharata. He has taken the story back and forth in times but the best part is that he has done this very brilliantly. You will not lose your interest anywhere as he has divided the times in parts to keep you into the book till the end.

You will get to know how whether Kurus's sons will be able to handle the empire and how much of blood will they shed in this war of getting hold of the empire. Will the family be able to rule the city or will they finish off like the others.
