Chetan Bhagat's 2 States is a story about his marriage. While he was at IIM studying for his MBA he met this girl Ananya at the canteen and both of them were fighting with the canteen guy for not serving good food. But they belonging to different castes is the biggest problem. Both of them don't want to have a runaway marriage. They want to have this marriage done with the agreement of their parents.
They both decide to convince their parents. Hence Krish decides to meet Ananya's parents. He tries to convince them, but things don't work their way. He then manages to convince her father by helping him making a PPT for his office; he helps her brother by giving him tuitions and convinces him too. But her mother still did not agree. He then learns from Ananya that she had a dream to sing in front of a huge crowd, so he arranges for her to sing at a function in his own office. Thus fulfilling a long time desired dream, she also is convinced and Ananya's parents agree, but now Krish had to convince his parents.
This is a big time struggle for him because there were a lot of problems that he faced to convince his parents and his entire family. But with the help of Ananya he manages to convince them.
